Back Then and Right Now

This long awaited blog post is a pictorial journey chronicling the wonderful (read radical) transformation of a an ordinary suburban Koramangala house into a “House of Children.”

Despite starting a few weeks late, we took all our time to patiently decide and design every little (read minuscule) aspect to make what ILM Montessori is today.

Our learning environment had everything.

Back then all our valuable material was stocked in this Storage room

Right now, invaluable student resources, are stored in this Reading Room.

Back then, it was just another blank wall staring at us in a room. We couldn’t tolerate this emptiness any longer.

So, we decided to give this room some “life”!

Oh, and this room was home to all our excess material.

Our little Pablo Picassos and Frida Kahlos enjoy working excessively in the very same room.

Back then, our front yard, on a bright and sunny day.

Right now, our much loved outdoor play area on a gloomy monsoon day.

There’s really nothing to say. It’s the Sandpit before and after construction.

Our driveway was clearly missing something and was far from looking inviting and welcoming.

When bricks and stone couldn’t, a few plants, benches and good sunlight give it a much needed lease of life!

Back then, our garage looked….. Pretty much like a garage.

Today it looks….. Yes pretty much like a Principal’s chamber.

Back then, ILM Montessori was just another idea shackled by doubt and fear.
Right now, it is a house of children that hopes to inspire and nurture the lives of its little residents.
